Opportunities, challenges, lessons learned from a big year, 2020, and our personal takes on how can we, as businesses, use Social Media, as we connect with the world, and ourselves, so we can make an impact. Behind the scenes from an event to remember! Oh yes, the little details of looking into the camera, right? Not at our fingers when we take the photo! Try it! :) This event was planned as an interactive discussion with some very insightful and deeper conversations emerging, where we moved past the technicalities of the platforms and went beyond, to explore the levels of connection that Social Media can bring into our life. The networking was hosted by the BNZ Partners Centre Nelson this week, with a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds, walks of life attending. I was honoured to be invited back for the 3rd year in a row to share my insights and findings with those interested in these topics. It was a great turnout, full house, great people, great vibes! From the feedback we have received, the topics resonated on a much deeper level with you and sparked new ideas and thoughts... perhaps a different way of reflection. Themes that emerged were social consciousness, communicating with our customers, what we have to offer to our audiences, and how can we attract the right people who can find us, if we show up and become visible on Social Media. But what are the fears that stop us? All this of course, goes hand-in-hand with the ability - or confusion and overwhelm - on how to utilise digital platforms and technologies to connect, especially as this year has showed us, in an environment where face-to-face interactions were/are not a given. Happily, we could cherish these moments on this day, in the same space, together, for what many of us were really grateful for... Opportunities of being seen and sharing what we are about. A popular piece that stuck with many of you was the example of the magnets - how the right poles can attract each other. If we can be aware what's "our pole" and what is our customers' or audience's pole, it will be very easy to get matched. We explored some ways how we can get super clear on that and how can we genuinely attract the right pole if we show our own pole. Many of you loved the social aspects, and through this real time event, we could explore lots f similarities on how Social Media is actually a big networking, just happening online. What are the etiquettes around our social interactions, on Social Media? Often they are so simple, if we imitated real life situations, but often we don't think of those. Some good reminders. Like saying hi when you walk up to someone in a room, - the same thing when we interact and connect online. Or meeting someone new, not starting to talk about a sales pitch and going straight to selling, instead of starting a conversation to get to know a bit about each other, maybe... People do business with people. Social Media is Social. It is, very much so, about people. How we connect with people sets the tone. Do we enjoy what we do? Do we enjoy the company of the people we meet, we interact, we work with? Big questions, and Social Media raises a lot of questions around these topics, if we are ready to dive deeper, and really understand our audiences, so we can engage and really "meet" each other...
I’m so excited to bring much more of this to you in the future! Thanks for joining us, for sharing your insights, takeaways, and if you feel you are drawn to share something here on these topics, or have a question how you can integrate these aspects into your business and Social Media activities, I would love to hear from you!
